 Xueyang Hu is an internationally acclaimed young director working in China. Currently, Hu is a director at Shanghai Film Studio and a visiting professor at the Beijing Film Academy, where he graduated in 1989.
He was named one of the top 100 Artists of Excellence in China.
Hu’s film Those Left Behind won the Best Picture Golden Pyramid Award at the 16th Cairo International Film Festival in 1992. The film also earned the honor of being named one of the 20th century’s top 100 films in Chinese Cinema.
Hu’s personal interpretation of the world and his unique directing style make him a pioneer in the Sixth-Generation of Chinese cinema. Known for their realism, Hu’s films explore the complexity and sensuality of human experience.
